Pros

Great peers to work with. Good benefits

Cons

Executive team are a good group of guys that you can grab a drink with but they are going to ruin the company. They always refer to the sales team as the “secret sauce” but they are constantly adding tasks to our plates that shouldn’t be an in store reps responsibility. We basically work for Home Depot, which has equally bad, if not worse, leadership. We are expected to be Home Depot supervisors because they are not capable of training their own people. Your commission is based on if the associates want to choose to sell your product and how much Home Depot wants to order. Be prepared to be a Home Depot paint associate most of your day. You’re expected to help every customer that walks into the department because they might be a JD Power shopper and Home Depot knows this so they’ll leave you to run the department by yourself. Home Depot was recently ranked as the worst in customer service among home improvement retailers. Don’t miss a shop unless you’re ready to be sawed down by your manager. They say it’s okay to miss a shop, yet it’s included in your review. If you like being pulled in multiple directions all day this is the job for you. You’ll be a sales associates, a merchandiser, an outside pro rep, a logistics coordinator, a trainer, and a call center rep all in one! The worst part is that there are people who actually get paid to do these roles but somehow it all gets put on you. Lots of marking tasks off a list so we can go to Home Depot and show them the value we bring while they turn around and promote the in store competitor more than ever. You’ll be expected to work 17 Saturday’s each year. Don’t expect to take a vacation if it interferes with a Saturday you’re supposed to work in the summer. My advice would be to look elsewhere.
