Pros

I worked at Benchmark Education for over three years and I truly enjoyed my time at the company. I was able to tailor my position to my interests and get involved in all departments. I felt that my work was valued and I was truly making an impact within the company. The office community is lively and diverse, and Benchmark provides plenty of opportunities to get to know co-workers. There are monthly birthday celebrations, a Benchmark soccer league, and an annual Benchmark art expo and holiday party. The collaborative environment within each department and between different departments allows for the best possible products and quick problem solving. Overall, I had a positive experience at the Benchmark Education and learned a lot about the educational publishing industry.

Cons

Benchmark Education has almost doubled in size in a very short amount of time and there are some visible growing pains, but everyone is invested in working together to revise and improve official processes.

Pros

I became incensed when I came across the reviews on Glassdoor and wanted to contribute my own review. I suppose things have changed here at Benchmark because I have a completely different view of this organization. I work fully remote from home. The culture is collaborative. People are NICE and very professional!! The 401k benefits match at 25% of my contributions (not 3 or 4% like most companies) AND they have a profit sharing bonus. It's a very inclusive and diverse company. Thank you, Benchmark. I'm going to reach out to other employees and see if we can 'up' these numbers with positive reviews!

Cons

I wish I could visit the main headquarters and meet my peers in-person someday.

Pros

May be manageable if you are 100% remote.

Cons

If you have to be in the New Rochelle office, it is truly a strange place with bizarre, abusive management. The negative reviews are accurate. You will hear yelling, shouting, cursing, and insults thrown around casually. It’s usually directed at individuals. This comes from the very top CEO - the bad vibes trickle down through middle management and onto workers. Turnover is extremely high, lots of layoffs and outsourcing. Occasional free lunch doesn’t make up for the horrible culture. Systems are convoluted and there’s no real training process or HR, so a lot of times one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing.
