Unethical & Corrupt - Project Manager Benchmark Education Employee Review

Pros

Not working there any longer.

Cons

Working with this company was a nightmare. There’s an apparent fear of upper management that drives a dysfunctional CYA work environment, sometimes at others expense. I experienced (middle) management abusing their power to the point of dishonest and fraudulent behaviors. I was manipulated and misled into a job where added/changing demands left me overworked and grossly underpaid. When I spoke up, I was shut down and threatened with wage theft. I kid you not. Despite hard work, dedication, and my contract stating otherwise, (middle) management had no problem threatening to pay me ZERO dollars for months of work. Of course I wasn’t going to let them get away with that. To top it off, a promise from (middle) management to talk to upper management about my concerns and get back to me “in a few days” turned into… radio silence! Unanswered emails and calls. Ghosted. Unbelievably unethical and corrupt. Incredibly unprofessional. Extremely petty given the modest sum at a big company. And not smart given the laws and systems in place at the Department of Labor to protect workers and investigate companies with this level of mismanagement. I highly recommend NOT working with this company. It’s toxic from the top down.

Pros

I became incensed when I came across the reviews on Glassdoor and wanted to contribute my own review. I suppose things have changed here at Benchmark because I have a completely different view of this organization. I work fully remote from home. The culture is collaborative. People are NICE and very professional!! The 401k benefits match at 25% of my contributions (not 3 or 4% like most companies) AND they have a profit sharing bonus. It's a very inclusive and diverse company. Thank you, Benchmark. I'm going to reach out to other employees and see if we can 'up' these numbers with positive reviews!

Cons

I wish I could visit the main headquarters and meet my peers in-person someday.

Pros

May be manageable if you are 100% remote.

Cons

If you have to be in the New Rochelle office, it is truly a strange place with bizarre, abusive management. The negative reviews are accurate. You will hear yelling, shouting, cursing, and insults thrown around casually. It’s usually directed at individuals. This comes from the very top CEO - the bad vibes trickle down through middle management and onto workers. Turnover is extremely high, lots of layoffs and outsourcing. Occasional free lunch doesn’t make up for the horrible culture. Systems are convoluted and there’s no real training process or HR, so a lot of times one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing.
