Pros

The company has been reinventing itself continuously for a number of years. This is great for people with ambition, grit, and talent. There are many opportunities to get your hands dirty and have an impact. The software engineering department, where I was, is a high performance group with talented, driven, and friendly people. Everyone we worked with in the other departments seemed equally so. And of course, there's the mission-driven aspect of the company. Every effort is ultimately for the creation of top notch literacy products that help students around the world develop critical reading skills. Very few companies have such a powerful mission, and many that do have so many layers between you and your impact that you often won't feel it. The purpose is strong at Benchmark.

Cons

Stress levels run high company-wide. Strong coping mechanisms are an absolute must!

Pros

I became incensed when I came across the reviews on Glassdoor and wanted to contribute my own review. I suppose things have changed here at Benchmark because I have a completely different view of this organization. I work fully remote from home. The culture is collaborative. People are NICE and very professional!! The 401k benefits match at 25% of my contributions (not 3 or 4% like most companies) AND they have a profit sharing bonus. It's a very inclusive and diverse company. Thank you, Benchmark. I'm going to reach out to other employees and see if we can 'up' these numbers with positive reviews!

Cons

I wish I could visit the main headquarters and meet my peers in-person someday.

Pros

May be manageable if you are 100% remote.

Cons

If you have to be in the New Rochelle office, it is truly a strange place with bizarre, abusive management. The negative reviews are accurate. You will hear yelling, shouting, cursing, and insults thrown around casually. It’s usually directed at individuals. This comes from the very top CEO - the bad vibes trickle down through middle management and onto workers. Turnover is extremely high, lots of layoffs and outsourcing. Occasional free lunch doesn’t make up for the horrible culture. Systems are convoluted and there’s no real training process or HR, so a lot of times one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing.
