Pros

Since Bi-mart is a community orriented workplace it is essential to get a feel for the community needs. We carry a slightly different array of products based on what the neighbourhood around the store needs. Our regular customers often come in daily and simply enjoy our store and employees. I must admit that there are more than enough people who treat the sales team like indentued servants- but that is par for the course in retail. Overall it is a good place to work- depending on your store manager.

Cons

Though job advancement within the company is fairly common, it is difficult to transfer to another location. And though Bi-mart says it will help you with furthering your education, they tend to only do so when your major is business- not science.

Pros

Discount is great, cost+10% is really good especially on seasonal items that have a higher mark up.

Cons

The company is gutting their sales floors of labor and management and crew are facing the consequences, 21% down in stock valuation this year is insane. Customer service is first so if you tell a customer "no" or ask them to leave, you have to write a report about WHY you had to tell a customer no or to leave after they screamed in your face for 15 minutes about looking at video you can't release because they want to fire you for daring to ask a customer to leave the building. Unfortunately, this company is likely to go under in a couple years time. Last year it was 10% down, they reduced christmas bonuses and gave 30 cent raises, closed Cascade Farm & Outdoor and unannounced, they closed a Bi-Mart in Vancouver without any notice. Now it's 21% down, how many more people are losing their jobs before they fold entirely?
