Pros

Billtrust has provided me so many opportunities to develop my career and pursue different roles. They invest heavily in employees through mentor programs and training programs at all levels. Management is open to change and even has a team available to help you navigate and build a case for company wide process improvements. My work is interesting and fast paced. The best part is the people; for the most part, they are all really smart, hard working, and great to work with. I can honestly say I really like coming to work.

Cons

One drawback to growing so quickly is that some things like documentation and features are not always complete. I'm hopeful that the new management is working on changing that.

Thanks for your input and great feedback. We are happy to see that our employees recognize we believe in and practice our core values – two of which are that ‘there are no sacred cows’ and ‘fix the problem not the blame’. We do have a number of initiatives underway to ensure our growth is not hurting our progress as a company. We have recently restructured product management and development organizations and renewed our focus on well-documented and defined roadmaps, ensuring that no new feature is released without documentation and training. Since these commitments are new, the processes may take some time to work all the bugs out. Billtrust management truly believes our most valuable asset is our people therefore, I would encourage you to reach out and share any additional ideas that you have that might help us improve in this time of growth. Pros

Good payment platform for mid-market companies

Cons

If you’re an experienced sales rep, avoid this company. They’ve gone through multiple structural changes over the last year, and another one appears to be coming soon. The PE firm already cleaned house across leadership and brought in a brand new executive team with little to no experience selling accounting software. The organization feels extremely disorganized. Expect heavy micromanagement through tools like Gong and Force Management training. AEs are treated more like glorified BDRs, while SEs control most of the sales cycle. Even getting deals approved internally is painful, with layers of unnecessary approvals slowing everything down. Hardly anyone on the net new logo team made quota last year, and this year appears to be trending the same way. Territories are divided using poor Salesforce data. Out of roughly 250 assigned accounts, maybe 30 actually fit the ICP. Training is practically nonexistent after they let go of most of the training staff, and marketing is ineffective. The one positive I’ll give Billtrust is that the product itself is solid. However, implementation costs can be absurd, sometimes costing more than the subscription fees themselves.
