Pros

I work on a diverse team of intelligent people who enjoy working together. I have a fantastic manager who knows how to push, reward, inspire, and help. I have the resources and the training to do what I need to do, I am able to move quickly and accomplish things never done before at Billtrust. My team and manager are results oriented, as long as I produce they are happy to work with my eccentricities and needs. My bosses have been honest and fair, when something is not up to spec, I dont have to wonder where I stand. When something is great, I don't have to wonder if they care. My team is interested in me as a resource and a person I can talk to them about my hobbies as equally as I can about something I need help with. Billtrust has promoted good culture since day one, and it has had a tremendously positive effect on my working and non-working life.

Cons

When we went private recently we lost our CEO and president, he was a huge personality and I will miss him very much. Our new chief executive is very friendly and engaging, and encouraging of ideas but its not the same thing. Like every other tech company we went through a medium sized layoff, while necessary, it did some damage to our culture. We will make the necessary repairs.

Pros

Good payment platform for mid-market companies

Cons

If you’re an experienced sales rep, avoid this company. They’ve gone through multiple structural changes over the last year, and another one appears to be coming soon. The PE firm already cleaned house across leadership and brought in a brand new executive team with little to no experience selling accounting software. The organization feels extremely disorganized. Expect heavy micromanagement through tools like Gong and Force Management training. AEs are treated more like glorified BDRs, while SEs control most of the sales cycle. Even getting deals approved internally is painful, with layers of unnecessary approvals slowing everything down. Hardly anyone on the net new logo team made quota last year, and this year appears to be trending the same way. Territories are divided using poor Salesforce data. Out of roughly 250 assigned accounts, maybe 30 actually fit the ICP. Training is practically nonexistent after they let go of most of the training staff, and marketing is ineffective. The one positive I’ll give Billtrust is that the product itself is solid. However, implementation costs can be absurd, sometimes costing more than the subscription fees themselves.
