Pros
Many tenured staff and a number of newcomers are fantastic, exceptionally competent colleagues. Very large sales force that has selected for hungry, entrepreneurial reps and directors. Exciting, possibly blockbuster biologic on the distant horizon. Good CEO who stays focused but also listens, is approachable and positive in the face of challenges. Global presence. Good record of promoting from within.
Cons
Main products are old, with inconsistent endorsement from leading HCPs. Marketplace is crowded with competitors, leading to cutthroat pricing and an absolute reliance on payer and plan access. Organic growth is tepid at best. New-category products are sold by a separate sales force, diminishing morale among established reps. High turnover, especially among marketing and commercial leadership and payer relations. Majority ownership by venture capital, who would be crazy not to be constantly seeking a way to get their money back. All the company's eggs are in one basket--the potential blockbuster orthobiologic that as of 2016 was still in pre-clinical development.
