Pros

Free Coffee. Free T-shirts. Dogs allowed. Great co-workers. Remote or Hybrid work available.

Cons

Let me start by saying, I loved BRCC and everything they stand for. I support our vets, I support freedom, and I have converted dozens of people to buy their coffee. With that being said, management here is the SOLE problem at BRCC. If you read all the reviews here you will see. - Ever since the company went public the company took a turn for the worst. No stock options, except for retail workers, or all of higher management, and C Level employees. - No raises and severely underpaid. Yearly bonuses are promised but not worth how much time you put into your work weekly, sometimes close to 80 hour work weeks. Requested a raise but was denied. - Expected to work at all times, hardly any time off, and on your days off if you get a call you better have your computer nearby because they expect the work to get done in a moments notice. No work/life balance. - Only employees promoted either have a military background or were brought in from an outside consulting company and promoted within a few weeks. - If you are sick with Covid, you are expected to use PTO for the time off. - Inconsistent policies, one week you were told to do something a certain way and if you don't your job is at risk. The next week you were told something that contradicted what you were told the previous week. Repeat the cycle. - The director/manager of my team was extremely negative and abusive. A true micromanager. Constantly making threats to fire you daily. If you were 30 seconds late to a meeting you were getting threatened. He constantly told our team that we don't work hard enough or that we don't have enough work, and would give us excessive amounts of work. The CTO told him to let our other manager run the team and he couldn't let go. - If you didn't finish all of yours tasks each sprint you would get in trouble and told you aren't working hard enough. And when you finished all of your tasks, if bugs came back from QA, you were chewed out. If you even tried to defend yourself, even if it wasn't your fault, he wouldn't listen. - The whole team worked 80+ hours a week, stay up late, and work on weekends. The entire team would talk in secret meetings and discuss how we were getting overworked but when confronted they were too afraid to ever speak up. Even tour Team Lead would say we were being over worked but was too afraid to ever speak out. - We originally did 13-16 story points a sprint, which was about 40-50 hours of work. When we were told we weren't working hard enough he bumped it up to 26 story points (80 hours). And when tasks still weren't being completed or being sent back from QA, he bumped it up to 35 story points (100+ hours) because "We aren't working hard enough." Please enlighten me how you complete that much work with an hour lunch, and about an hour of meetings each day. - Point is, terrible manager, never boosted the teams confidence or morale, constantly put us down, unreal expectations, and told us we'll be fired if we don't do things his way. I can't even name ONE time we were ever told "great job" or given positive feedback.
