Pros

Experienced people around, you can learn a lot in software and investment fields. The benefits are great, private insurances and private retirement fund are good things to feel secure. The pay is higher than in other places which is a great plus, career advancement is clear and possible with lots of supporting events to help navigate through the processes of blackrock. the flexible time off is a great benefit, not hard to get the approval for leaves or time offs, unless there is some critical thing, its pretty straightforward.

Cons

more strict than software companies, dress code even if you dont interact with any customers, not-very-flexible-working hours, you are expected to be online 9 - 17, no concept of core hours (all business hours are core hours). Its a bit chaotic in software, its not very organized so its hard to understand what is going on for longer than you would expect.

Pros

Branding branding branding!!! an incredible brand, and having it on your resume opens some doors but not all.

Cons

The Preqin acquisition never really found its identity after becoming part of BlackRock. It felt like the focus shifted from listening to clients to fitting Preqin into a broader BlackRock strategy. As AI changes how firms access and analyze private market data, simply being a data provider isn’t enough anymore. My impression was that Preqin’s long-term value is likely to come from being integrated into the broader Aladdin ecosystem and APIs, rather than remaining a standalone platform. Leadership would benefit from spending more time listening to customers and the teams on the front lines instead of assuming they already know what the market wants.
