Pros

You can wander into the office around 9, do your job, and leave by 4 and still be successful.

Cons

- Very cliquey, siloed, and political. This is much, much worse for those not in Charleston. If you aren't in the headquarters your chances of success at Blackbaud are significantly impaired. - There really isn't much "culture." It isn't a bad culture, and some individual teams have better or worse. However, participation in company events is small, there isn't much company identity, and most people who work there don't really interact outside of the office. I met very few people who said, "I love working here," the most common sentiment was "it's a job." - Top heavy. Leadership tends to get 'into the weeds' on product development decisions rather than trust their teams. This is made worse by frequent changes in leadership, so months of work is often thrown away as new leaders changes priorities and direction, and then six months later is happens again. - Too process driven. Things that should be decided in a quick 1 hour meeting can take months because of the overbearing process. There was constant discussion of processes and much of the communications from leadership were only about processes. Innovations in process are often recognized and rewarded more than innovation and improvements to the products.

Pros

Blackbaud is an outstanding place to work. The remote-first culture is a big bonus, but the people and the mission really make it what it is. They are well resourced and put a lot of care into making their employees feel seen, valued and respected. The leadership teams make it a priority to have healthly discourse and ensure accountability from all team members. I love it here!

Cons

Long hours but it is worth it because it is a great place to work!

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and positive review. We’re glad to hear that the remote-first culture, the people, and the mission resonate so strongly with you, and that you feel seen, valued, and respected in your work. Creating an environment rooted in purpose, accountability, and healthy dialogue is central to how we aim to show up for one another. We appreciate your perspective on the pace and recognize that experiences can vary, but it’s meaningful to hear that the work feels worthwhile and fulfilling for you. Thank you for your kind words and for being part of what makes this a great place to work.
