Thank you for providing your feedback. As a global leader in our industry, Blackhawk Network (BHN) strives to provide our customers with a great experience with our gift cards and prepaid products. Our multi-store gift cards provide consumers with choice and flexibility, and there are no fees associated with these cards. We also offer prepaid cards which allow the recipient to easily shop and spend online and in-store where the network (Visa or Mastercard) is accepted. These prepaids cards comply with federal regulations, which allow for maintenance fees to be charged. These fees are disclosed prominently on the back of the packaging and can be seen by the consumer prior to purchasing the card. These fees are also disclosed in the cardholder agreement that accompanies the card inside the package. This disclosure is in accordance with these regulations. Monthly maintenance fees help support the cost of operating the program including, but not limited to, network costs, card processing, account functionality, customer service, fraud/risk, compliance and distribution sales commissions.
We take security very seriously, and we continue to implement best security practices to maintain high security standards across our network and protect consumers from fraud. In instances where a consumer may suspect that their gift card or prepaid card has been compromised, we may request proof of identification and take preventative measures such as blocking a card.
