Pros
Once you gain trust and prove you'll get your job done you can kind of do whatever you want. They don't micro-manage. Almost everyone has a shared passion or interest in independent media. Camaraderie when big news events or elections are happening.
Cons
No management communication to the point where no one knew things that were being released on our own platform, and we never heard from the CEO. It was like he went out of his way to avoid us even when he was in office.
Huge gossip culture because leaders won't tell employees anything, so naturally rumors circulate. A lot of the women are catty with each other.
No unity at all. Across the board teams are isolated, overworked, and offered no support for growth or development or guidance. Shows regularly fail because they hire bad or difficult talent and then leaders don't put any effort into developing them. There are no rewards for doing well, and pay increases are a joke for a company that pushes conservative values (don't expect to keep up with inflation). People also get away with behavior that would get you fired on the spot anywhere else. This is the most toxic environment I've ever worked in.
