Pros

Free Lunch, Easy to use terminal software, Decent Work/life balance and event opportunities.

Cons

Fake Culture - Managers here are kiss-ups and undercutters all the same as anywhere else. They just pretend to be inclusive and care about their team because they have to by policy. A lot of fake people here. A LOT. Fake Meritocracy and no pay transparency . - They tell you you are graded on certain "Metrics" but do not tell you what your ratings are. You are allowed to know absolutely nothing about your annual pay increase. Which by the way is 3-6% per year for almost everyone regardless of how hard you work. You don't even get to know what portion of your raise comes from going above and beyond vs what you earned for being at your desk and having a pulse. In order for a meritocracy to work, people need to know what their extra effort actually earns them. Instead they throw a lot of corporate buzz words and fluff at you and force you to be happy with the number even if you're a top performer. They won't even give you and #/10 rating on your performance to gauge yourself. No Growth - Bloomberg loves to talk about its hipster horizontal culture, but really that is just an excuse to not have "Senior" or "VP" positions and therefor, not having to promote or pay above average employees more. You can move areas, and your salary will remain the same, maybe being HALF that of your new peers. But that's it. Those who kiss up are promoted quickly and are well taken care of. But good luck actually moving up from an analyst position. Especially if you are just there to work. This used to be my dream company, but I was heartbroken after being there over a year. Most young people use Bloomberg as a stepping stone. Stay 1-2 years and launch themselves elsewhere. Now I understand why. So I did the same. Also as general advice, employers telling you not to discuss salary with your peers is just a way for them to keep those who are underpaid in the dark.

Pros

Great company, in this role you have the chance to learn about the financial markets, the terminal, and also you get client exposure.

Cons

Not really cons, culture is great.

Pros

Opportunities to do lots of work with data and finance to apply knowledge in both programming and Subject-Matter Expertise (SME). Excellent Work-Life Balance (WLB) and extremely welcoming culture. You can reach out to anyone for help or just to talk, and they will get back to you (although management does require more scheduling in advance). Generous compensation (good wage) and benefits, including housing for interns. If you heard the rumors that the Bloomberg Princeton office has a great Bloomberg Pantry (read: company-provided breakfast and lunch), the rumors are true.

Cons

Not the place for those looking for cutting-edge AI. The company is not as fast with AI as the company prioritizes reliability and accuracy above all, and much of AI is not at an acceptable threshold for management to be willing to take that risk with financial data (at least in 2026). You may get a project to automate menial processes, which is really cool, but that tends to involve actually doing the menial processes, which feels unproductive. Princeton office is good but New York is considered preferable. Coworkers are not very reachable outside of work hours. Compensation is low in Data compared to Software Engineers.
