Pros

Salary, but it is not still lower than NYT

Cons

Bloomberg used to be a great company with an agile management led by smart people. The organisation is getting incredibly bureaucratic and inefficient, driven by some managers playing political games in newsroom. The problem is the company focuses on loyalty so much, it keeps stupid managers whose job is merely having unnecessary zoom calls each other without caring about quality of news stories. I feel sad to say the company is becoming like a government organisation that needs DOGE, mostly because of the ageing founder who seems to have lost control of management. This will eventually affect the terminal service and clients would notice someday the quality of news stories has significantly deterioriated. There are too many editors and managers doing nothing every day.

Pros

Stable company with excellent compensation and benefits. Great place to build a strong foundation in data center operations and enterprise infrastructure. Exposure to a wide range of technologies, vendors, and production environments. Collaborative culture with supportive coworkers and a healthy work-life balance. Good environment for learning the fundamentals of hardware deployment, troubleshooting, networking, and large-scale infrastructure.

Cons

Career growth can be slow due to a very flat organizational structure and low turnover in senior positions. Limited opportunities to develop new technical skills or take ownership of major infrastructure projects. Training and professional development opportunities can be inconsistent and may depend on management support rather than individual initiative. Engineers looking for greater technical ownership, innovation, or faster career progression may eventually outgrow the role.
