Pros

Unlimited PTO but they will give you a hard time when you use it.

Cons

1. Culture and vibe has changed. SOC now had a fear culture where if you make a mistake you get fired. Or if you are among the least performing you still get fired and with no warning because there's no more PIP. 2. The company does not keep their word on promises and promotions. You can go through an entire interview process, have a start date and salary established, all for it to get thrown away because it's no longer in the budget. That has been my personal experience. 3. Company has a culture of poor communication. When you apply for a role internally the hiring managers do not bother getting back to you no even with a rejection. And even if you follow up with them you recieve no response. This has been my experience with more than 5 managers in this company. 4. You can work hard for 5 or 6 years in this company and what they do is decide that your role no longer fits the budget and that you are overpaid so they secretly put your job on the job board behind your back and once they hire your backfill they let you go and throw you away like your nothing. That has also been my experience. 5. The management team will leave you in the dark of things that concern your department and projects that you own and instead of communicating and being up front and honest that they don't want you on the project, they try to discourage you by overriding all your decisions and by not communicating those decisions with you. They will assign your duties to other people rather than communicate with you. They only communicate with people that they see more valuable than you. So you are out of the loop or the last to know anything. 6. Micromanaging is so heavy you can't even breathe. And managers that were hired after you have been there for over 5 years come in and don't know anything and ask you the same questions over and over again every week for months. Managers unable to comprehend or retain information but have perfected talking in circles during every meeting and giving you the runaround. 7. SOC has extremely high turnover and poor treatment of analyst. Analyst are expected to work hundreds of tickets per day and make no mistakes. 8. The SOC is becoming a Rapid 7 fan club with major Silicon Valley vibes. The nepotism in this company is unbelievable. If you have a family member that is an investor in the company you will get 5 promotions in 4 years. Not because you have earned it but because you have paid for it. And majority of SOC management is former Rapid 7. Meaning there is a system of relationships that is prejudice against everyone outside of that click/circle and you move up and get promoted fast if you are in that circle. 9. A lot of staff that came from Rapid 7 curse during meetings which is unprofessional.

Pros

You get paid and have insurance.

Cons

I worked for BV for about a year. I was tasked with "working with a partner" who was somewhat managing the customer. What started as a CSM turned into a secretary for the partner and the customer. Once I realized the partner didn't really know what they were doing (eventhough on paper it appeared so, I took over the accounts). My leadership heard my comments about my terrible treatment from the partner, but typical CS mgmt, they did nothing. It wore me down. That and the job became just a ticket chasing gig where you really didn't use any real skills aside from scheduling meetings and making fancy ppts. Their teams are short staffed, making customer engagments and projects hard to progress, a lot of people really have bad attitudes towards lesser teams. Some people who just can't even talk to other human beings. This also is because the executive leadership team set terrible examples. People who love to talk tough to get their point across. It was depressing working there. The team I was on were nice, but no one had any real skills except being a stenographer for meetings/customer leaders.
