Pros

This was a solid job. 9/80 schedule with a remote day provided good work life balance. Benefits are exceptional. Namely the 401k match of 10% and the Student Loan Match program which pays you for making payments by depositing a lump sum at the end of the fiscal year. Educational program provided me a free certificate with no claw backs so props to them on that. My position was dissolved via company wide layoffs but honestly it was the best get out I have ever had. Non-working reduction from Thanksgiving to Christmas + Severance 4 weeks.

Cons

Constricting managers with micromanagement from higher ups. Lack of support in building stable environments. Lack of action to address key issues. Upward mobility lacking and office politics present. Good job to build with develop a skill base and jump. Put some time in but recognize opportunities to move up are limited and you do not want to stagnate.

Pros

Excellent work-life balance compared to many aerospace companies. Good benefits (healthcare, retirement, PTO).

Cons

- Five days per week in the office - Parking can be challenging. - Working across multiple time zones (U.S., Brazil, India) creates coordination overhead - Compensation is not competitive for the Seattle area. - Limited opportunities for meaningful career growth. While there are internal career paths, I haven't found many opportunities that align with the technical challenges and responsibilities I'm looking for - SPEEA's seniority-based structure can slow advancement for newer employees - Programs have very long development cycles, so it can take years to see your work become a finished product - Less exposure to cutting-edge technology than companies focused on emerging products (space, medical devices, AI hardware, quantum computing, etc. Significant bureaucracy and slow decision-making
