Pros

I love the people. The company hires well and retains well. Visibility and access to Sr. leaders in Boise is very unique. Even people in support roles can influence change and progress.

Cons

It is difficult to promote if you are stationed at HQ. Most mid-level managers and Sr. leaders spend a great deal of time away from Boise before they move into advanced roles. This does make it hard when you have a young family and relatives you want to stay close to in Idaho. Likewise, the homegrown operating/POS/accounting systems make it next-to-impossible to telecommute or have flexible work hours. Again, these constraints make it tough when you have a sick kid or a situation that requires any flexibility outside of the old school 8-5. Advanced degrees hold no water - it is all about tenure/experience.

Pros

No face to face customers. Not very much turnover.

Cons

Because people stay, opportunities for advancement are limited if you can’t relocate.
