Pros

The nurses in the unit as well as the CNAs were team players, most were willing to help. Some of the staff was very positive and working in a religious facility and speaking with the chaplains was brought some sunshine to each day.

Cons

Staffing was terrible; some days nurses would have 7 patients, with no CNA. The patients ranged from acute care to post-operative patients. These patients were of moderate to high acuity. Management did not see any problem with the safety concerns of nurses or CNAs. One management individual even said, " we don't need CNAs we need to hire more nurses." even though we had no CNAs on days and 2 on nights. The pay was the lowest in the area. Providers would yell and be rude to nurses if they called to ask a question, or they didn't like the concern the nurse had about a patient. I have even heard some physicians talk very nasty to patients.
