Pros
Bon Secours Mercy Health offers good benefits, and various locations to work.
Cons
BSMH takes pride on providing high quality patient care while neglecting to care for those who actually provide the care at bedside. Nurses are faced every day with overwhelming staff to patient ratios that are completely unsafe, all so the company can cut costs. Nurses will be sent home if the patient census is low, even in unpredictable environments such at the Emergency Department, where patient acuity can quickly change. Nurses work long, exhausting shifts, and demanding hours and are essentially unable to take sick days from themselves without repercussion. Staff are allotted PTO, however are given "occurrences" for call offs, making staff feel obligated to come to work when sick themselves. Years of this type of working environment can cause burnout, but BSMH will not help staff who end up struggling themselves. There is zero compassion for those who work tirelessly to care for sick patients. Sadly, years of experience and loyalty to the company have no value at BSMH.
