Pros
-It's true, you do get to see some cool art/objects and sometimes you may go to cool places if you go to an offsite sale -If you're starting off in your career and you want exposure, experience and you don't care about the money, Bonhams is for you. For example, one position at Bonhams is the equivalent of four different departments at Christie's and Sotheby's. You'll be stretched thin but you will learn a lot and that will be helpful when moving onto a competitor. Also, the auction world is tiny so you will gain a lot of contacts.
Cons
-Extremely low pay. They will pay you the minimum if you are a Porter/Customer Service/Administrator. The gender pay gap is still an issue there. -Very little internal mobility and growth -It is completely outdated in terms of technology. A3 is an absolute joke. -Sexism, PARTICULARLY in the car department. If you're a woman, just expect to be treated like you're in the 50's. Sadly I cannot emphasize this enough.
