Pros
The atmosphere is so child-centric, which is of course appropriate and envigorating. It's very gratifying to help children and their families. The compensation, in terms of hourly pay for RNs, is improving, as they need to compete with the nearby unionized hospitals (Brigham & Womens, Massachusetts General, etc.). The benefits options are very good. Employee morale varies widely among the various units and departments, but overall it seemed better than other hospitals I have worked in.
Cons
The higher levels of management have blinders on; they do not seem to see or hear suggestions or concerns voiced by others. Communication seems to trickle down from senior management, often after the fact. Major changes have been made without input from the very employees most directly affected. Since the hospital is in the city, you of course have to pay for parking, and the ride on shuttles from the commuter lots can be lengthy.
