BSC used to pride itself on patient-first innovation; however, recent shifts in management have resulted in Marketing pressuring R&D to launch products that aren't ready (usually due to poorly defined market needs). R&D projects are often led by inexperienced engineers who have not taken products to market before. Pay is not competitive and benefits have been slowly reduced for several years (no rollover vacation, loss of healthcare incentives, increased healthcare/deductible costs). In 2023, the endoscopy division laid off nearly all sustaining engineers and many NPD engineers. Many of those laid off were falsely told they would not be impacted.
