Most employees work 70+ hours a week and are penalized if they don't. They use "flexible schedule" and "results driven time off" to justify working everyone beyond capacity. Sure, you can go to the doctor, pick up your kids, or take a vacation... but you're going to make up for it and if you can't you'll have a chat with HR about your performance. The expectation is to get all work done, regardless of the time required. Working for this particular team does not allow you to have a life outside of work and if you try, you will be under a microscope until you feel forced to quit.
