Pros
The rapport with residents, knowing that you're doing something to make their day. Leftovers at night from dining. Medical, dental, etc. for full-time employees. Holiday pay.
Cons
This particular location has a rapid turnover rate in all departments, all the way up to Executive Director (of which there were 4 in the 7 months I worked there). Our department saw 3 different Directors (and a 4-month stretch with none at all) in that time period. New hires would be weeks or even months before they get on the schedule at all. Poor to no communication between departments. And burnout... SO much burnout, from understaffing. I understand new locations may take some time to "iron things out" but this one doesn't seem like it ever will. I ultimately left because advancement opportunities I was promised under the department head who hired me never came to fruition.
