Pros
Pros include: -Excellent benefits (all union and non-union positions) -Fair accrued vacation time -Paid training, opportunity to learn things that improve your skills or make you stand out in a list of potential candidates at other companies. -Opportunities to change careers via internal hiring preferences -Opportunities to be involved in positive and contructive changes/projects -Almost endless opportunities for overtime -Salary is ok for region/experience
Cons
-Little to no tuition reimbursement -Complicated sick time policies -Little room for upward movement without a B.S. or higher education -Inconsistent 1st shift schedule -Difficult workplace environment. Very crowded, noisy, extremely fast-paced. Very cliquey, though management is aware and trying to diffuse tensions. -Management is actually pretty helpful to talk to, but very hands off with the actual workload. They can be kind of obvious to challenges. They are willing to listen to problems though, and have made efforts to be more approachable. It would be nice to see them come out of their offices once in a while and get in the trenches with us, especially on days with high numbers of callouts.
