Toxic leaders at the top create a hostile, demoralizing environment for employees. There is an internal “hotline”, but it is not a safe place to call. Employees fear they will be targeted if they speak up, so they do not use it too often. Corporate HR in the US is weak, not strong enough to do what is right for employees, and allows the toxic behavior. Horrible culture and most employees know it. They stay for the science, but nothing else. If you are an aggressive bully, you will get promoted.
