Pros
The product is excellent. Customers see real value when it’s implemented well, and there are a lot of talented employees who genuinely care about the company’s success.
Cons
Unfortunately, the biggest challenges come from leadership and execution. Professional Services continues to struggle, which impacts customer onboarding and the overall customer experience. From what I’ve seen, customer churn has increased while sales have slowed. Instead of collaborating to solve problems, departments often blame one another, creating a culture where accountability is hard to find. Executive turnover has been constant. It feels like there’s a new leadership team or a new strategy every few months, making it difficult for employees to believe in a long-term vision. Stability has become the exception rather than the rule. There has also been a major push to measure AI adoption internally, despite many employees questioning the practical value it delivers today. In many cases, the insights are inaccurate or don’t meaningfully improve how people do their jobs, yet usage is still heavily monitored. The most disappointing part is the leadership culture. I’ve witnessed senior leaders speak negatively about other leaders and employees behind their backs instead of addressing issues directly. That behavior eventually trickles down through the organization and erodes trust. A culture of respect starts at the top, and that hasn’t been my experience. There also appears to be a small executive inner circle where dissenting opinions aren’t welcomed. Employees who challenge decisions can feel like their perspectives don’t matter, leading to less transparency and less healthy debate. BuildOps has all the ingredients to be an incredible company: a great product, talented people, and a large market opportunity. What’s holding it back isn’t the technology. It’s inconsistent leadership, poor cross-functional alignment, and a culture that too often prioritizes optics over execution. Pros • Excellent product • Talented and hardworking employees • Huge market opportunity • Passionate teams that care about customers Cons • Frequent executive turnover • Poor cross-functional collaboration • Professional Services challenges impact customers • Heavy emphasis on AI usage metrics despite limited demonstrated value • Leadership culture can undermine trust and open communication
