Pros

Closed on Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter, but that is about all that is good with the company. Other than that, not much!

Cons

Pretty much everything! Region 30 and T5 are a joke! Unless you are from Macy's, forget about getting promoted or even given a second thought. Since the SVP, RVP, and Vice President all worked together at Macy's, they are trying to turn Burlington into a Macy's, which is slowly going out of business. Every detail of every day is micro managed to the extreme, all the while the regional team does whatever they please. Most days are spent doing manual labor while waiting for a phone call or email telling you how bad of a job you're doing. The regional team has no idea what it is like to run a store in the current economic environment, even though 2 of them have run stores in the past when their stores had twice the amount of payroll to do so. Store managers are treated like hourly associates even though most have worked extremely hard to get to the store manager level with Burlington and/or other companies. There is ZERO trust by the company leadership that store managers can actually run their stores properly. The stark reality is that the regional team expects SM's to be available 24/7, yet they are working M-F shooting off emails expecting immediate responses while in the comfort of their own homes. Forget about going to HR for anything, which is a common response from your social media representatives..... It doesn't work and actually makes things worse! The reality is that if you sell your soul to Burlington, you might be okay, but not likely.

Pros

The discounts are great! If one of the good managers/team leads is working, I'll be able to get an extra smoke break or maybe even two. Otherwise, it's not happening. They've been very, very flexible with everyone's hours! Much better than anywhere else I've worked! I really appreciate that the majority of the staff haven't been racist, discriminating, judgemental, etc. They've given work opportunities to all types of people (they're not picky on one's race, disability, age, looks, etc). 👍 They really do seem to be an equal-opportunity employer.

Cons

There has been lots and lots of theft because they have absolutely no security other than their products' tags. Almost rarely do we see a janitor or the manager. It's been very hard to get used to coworkers because they're constantly going through staff! It's not just me that's been bothered by it. Plus, SO many staff, including myself, have always whined and complained about our lack of hours, but the full-time staff get overtime?! Yeah, the amount of hours absolutely sucks when it's not a big "shopping" time! Your best luck for getting your wanted hours is only around Christmas and back-to-school. 🙄
