Pros
I genuinely love my job. Initially, I just wanted to pay off my student loans a little quicker, but I didn't realize how rewarding and exciting tutoring at C2 would be. After a reasonable period of training, I was afforded significant flexibility with my hours and preferred subjects. I am given a lot of support from the administrative staff and corporate: everything from wide-ranging academic resources, to pizza on long Saturdays, to a beautiful tie on my birthday. I feel appreciated by my coworkers, supervisors, and students, and am motivated to bring my very best to each tutoring session. I feel like I've grown a lot as a teacher and as a person since I started. I would definitely recommend tutoring at C2 to someone with a love of academics and a passion for empowering students.
Cons
The downsides are relatively few and far between. First, I would appreciate more feedback from students on our tutoring sessions and my personal teaching style. This would help me understand which techniques and resources are well received, and which are perhaps less effective. Similarly, I wish I had more direct interaction with parents and guardians, which would clarify their long term goals and expectations. I would be also able to answer any questions and get insight into how students are progressing at home. Finally, I wish I could get to know my fellow tutors a little bit better; I feel like I have to go out of my way to interact with my coworkers, and there aren't nearly enough social events to break the ice.
