Pros
I feel I have ample support from my management team. I’m given quite a bit of autonomy and trust to do my job. Pay is ok and I’ve had two raises in two and a half years. There is AMPLE opportunity to move up and promote. Work from home is fantastic. Quite a bit of support. Abundant amount of available overtime for the majority of the year. Also, I wanted to address the “mandatory overtime” as I see a lot of negative reviews about it. And quite honestly it’s being incorrectly portrayed and I am not surprised. It was something fully communicated to us in the interview process and was not snuck in or lied about. It’s generally 5 hours in the span of 1 week and/or weekend. We are given notice and time to prepare. I’ve had a few different supervisors in my time to where I am currently and every single one worked with me to get schedules situated. It is not a con for me at all and quite honestly it’s something I don’t see fair to complain about as again, it’s not something that should be surprising to current or past employees.
Cons
The only con I currently have is the schedule system has always been somewhat unpredictable. As a tenured employee I have very little worry now but during my early days every 6 months or so (not as much during COVID) shifts are chosen again. Tenured employees as and employees with good stats get to choose first, which makes complete sense and is fair. However, what this leads to is the very real possibility that the shift you applied for and were hired for may be lost. Which would affect your shift, pay rate and days off. For the most part most employees went for early shifts and I wanted mage owns so it never hurt me. I did have co-workers that were hurt by it and lost the shift they wanted/needed or even days off. I want to stress that 9 times out of 10 an employee would get the same shift they had going into the process but sometimes they wouldn’t. What does often happen to me is my days off are shifted around during that that. If you have school, sports events or any obligations I would hazard you have that conversation with your interviewer. CBE does work with schedules but it’s best you ask that ahead of time. Especially if you know your days off have to be set in complete stone for the foreseeable future. I will say, however, that these have slowed down quite a bit and are not as often but they could just as easily pick back up at any time.
