Pros

There was a lot to like about my brief stint at CGS. They had a good work-from-home setup (they sent me a new laptop, monitors, and a docking station), my boss seemed like a caring, competent person, and the benefits were really solid. I was pleasantly surprised by their high-deductible health plan - the out-of-pocket costs, especially for prescriptions, ended up being lower than I expected. Most of the co-workers I interacted with were great, the work environment seemed pretty laid-back, and I feel like the job security would have been excellent had I chosen to stay.

Cons

After a quick interview process, things slowed way down for me. I was initially hired as a contractor, with the understanding that I'd be eligible to transition to a permeant employee after about three months. It ended up being closer to six months until I made the switch. That was annoying, but there was a bigger problem, one that ultimately made me decide to find work elsewhere - I was bored. In the year I spent at CGS, I did maybe three months' worth of actual, productive work. I never found out exactly why this was. During the interview process my boss gave the impression I'd have plenty to do, and she kept telling me things would pick up, but the promised work rarely materialized, and when it did, I'd have something to do for just a little while before going right back to being bored. That plus a team structure where my boss managed a group of 15-20 people and I could never quite remember who did what left me feeling sort of lost in the shuffle. To some, getting paid a Senior Programmer's salary to do nothing might sound like the ideal job, and honestly, I'd probably have been fine with it if I were closer to retirement. But ultimately I decided that I had too much of my career ahead of me to start coasting.
