Pros

I am not sure there are many Pros that aren't plastic or a mirage. They 401K match? They are large in their industry so well known and less likely to fail if the industry fails. Those are Pros, right?

Cons

Notice the string of 5 stars, they pushed the Fortune Best Places to Work position when I was first there, then that we were on the list at all, then it isn't a useful list to be on anymore when we weren't on it. Spin, spin, spin. Glassdoor is the new list they want to be on and brag about which is why the company has responses on here spinning any negative response. It is emailed regularly to come here and put in a review. They know that those that are positive actually read their frequent emails and the negative delete without reading. It is a cult. If you don't drink the Kool Aid, you are targeted. Mention that to HR, they shrug. So all the dissent is spoken in whispers. I was there for years and seriously I knew it was brainwashing but now I realize HOW MUCH it is. A little terrifying. The improvements aren't really thought through, they are wholly reactionary to the loudest whine so they can silence it, which is futile, or to have a video clip in the annual meeting spin show. PTO is paid out half, the reason was you shouldn't be incentivized to not take the time. They do let you sell it back which DOES incentivize not taking it but at half, ok I can see that as not too far off from the principle. BUT then they change to pay out you to sell back at FULL but when you leave you still only get half. So if you leave and have a balance, which is always going to be the case and capped at 160 hours anyway, you get half. BUT if you haven't left voluntarily or involuntarily, you get half what you earned. Clearly reactionary, feeling instead of strategic and thought through. Which is everything with this company, it is ALL about how things feel and not well thought through. The best course is avoided because there is pain and discomfort. Over, and over, and over again. Their entire basis for everything is emotion, which is terrible for everything for groups but what you need to keep the cult going. People I know are looking to leave will talk about the great culture and how CHG cares in public meetings or gathering - and then talk about how the CHG people don't care right after in whispers. The people there the longest are the culture problem, they LOVE the culture of gossip and sabotage backstabbing. I have had people respond to a question had with "THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!" and a series of happy faces and minutes later a message from their "leader" manager telling us we were crap from sending that message. Things like that happen everywhere, but at CHG it is weekly if not daily experiences. Maybe that isn’t a con for some people and they thrive in playing those games but I hate people treating me with two faces. Notice that the ratings are steady line downward. It is getting harder and harder to hide the ugly as people aren't as indoctrinated in the cult.

Pros

CHG has been an incredible place to work for the last decade. I have been provided many opportunities to grow and contribute in new ways, There are many thrilling business problems to solve and challenges that keep me engaged and excited to come to work each day. I love the culture, the people I get to work with, the flexibility, the rewarding and meaningful work, and what we are building together.

Cons

I'd love to see a higher 401K match and maybe sabbaticals every 10 years.

Pros

Ability to work from home. OK pay. Mostly great people to work with.

Cons

Used to be a company that never laid people off. Now it seems that every month, some group has layoffs. We are being told that AI won't replace any people, yet people are being laid off and not replaced. Promotions from within are rare. VPs are hired from outside the company. Culture has changed. Bad behavior is tolerated if that person gives good results for the bottom line. Leaders can push to have people in other departments demoted or fired. Many leaders only pay lip service to Work/Life balance. I often take my computer with me on my days off so I can jump on and take care of things. I frequently answer emails and phone calls on days off. Lots of pressure to come into the office to work, even if the rest of your team isn't there. Messaging from management is confusing. We are told that CHG is gaining market share in a difficult market and then told that CHG isn't meeting its goals, so raises will be very small and the bonuses won't be that great. But somehow CHG is doing really well. Skip level 1:1 are a waste of time. I've figured out that if I just get whoever I'm talking to talking about their stuff, I don't actually have to say anything. If I do manage to bring up a concern or ask a question, I'm told that I'm making an interesting point, but I don't get any further information or answers. Basically, CHG has become just like any other corporation.
