Pros
- moderate work load - flexible schedule mostly
Cons
there can be a weird dynamic between scribes and x-ray techs. some scribes feel that because there aren’t x-rays the entire shift that “all you have to do is x-rays” while they have a much heavier workflow, there tends to be a jealous dynamic and some will make you feel that you’re undeserving because they assume that your job is so simple. Now CityMD needs to do better, maybe open up strictly imaging facilities for technologists or do something about the work dynamic. Also, it shouldn’t be in an x-ray technologists work duties to have to room patients and take vitals, that just seems to be a very easy way to get techs to do 2 separate jobs for the same low pay. and they are non-negotiable when it comes to the pay. they will give you the minimum regardless. it’s not terrible pay but depending on your location it is a very hostile environment. They will make you feel guilty when your job (which is taking x-rays) isn’t super busy for the day. they will try to make you feel that you should be helping others do their job. i’m sorry, but if i’m backed up on x-rays one day can a scribe come in and “start my patient?” NO. It’s just very unfortunate.
