      Pros

      The Winnipeg campus is great. A ton of learning condensed into 7 weeks of training. The staff there are very friendly and helpful. There is a phone app to help learn the 117 signal cards. Different teacher every week. There is a 4 day weekend part way through the 7 weeks that you can go home.

      Cons

      Disorganized at times. Class start times different every week, you have to seek out alot of information. CN doesn't cover alot of safety gear expenses. A portion of the boots cost. We have to buy all outer wear. Such as winter gear, coveralls, overalls.

      Pros

      Pays decently well for first job out of college. My manager and team are very reasonable with expectations placed on new hires. Working after office hours (past 4:30pm) is extremely rare and only expected in emergencies.

      Cons

      Very slow and/or limited job growth potential. Promotions into middle management are almost purely based on reputation with middle managers who are largely people with previous field experience. This is very disadvantageous to direct-from-college hires like myself and even my current manager.
