They hire people of dubious character, THEN con them into leasing a truck that they cannot afford. They do so under the guise that they will get trainees they can subjugate. As a result I was held captive for 37,000 miles not improving on the skills required for inner city driving. You see, the trainer made me drive for hours on the open road, then he would make the pick-ups and deliveries maximizing both: his laziness, and his profits. I subsequently failed the road evaluation, but I found a trainer who trained me well. Shortly after becoming the captain of my own ship, I, (along with sixteen other truckers,) was blown over in a micro-burst. They left me stranded in Rochelle, Illinois. (I never heard of Chad England.)
