Pros

DEI: ever since the new HR director joins, the company has been better with recognizing female scientists , contractor/admin roles, making sure the workplace is free of harassment/ discrimination. DEI at Seqirus is more employee-led, so it's not perfect. But has good progress. Structure: lean company although CSL is big. Which de-risk the company from lay-offs and etc. I'm glad this company is not "delusional" about growing the company head counts exponentially. Personal Growth: because the company is so lean, young professionals can have individual , semi-impactful projects with mentorship. Colleagues: there are a lot of competent people with good integrity and genuine intentions toward helping others and making the company grow. This is also a place that you can establish life-long friendships, since you work very closely with everyone. Of course, there are a few exceptions which I will not talk in this section. Senior Leadership at the HQ: very competent and smart. They rolled out new EMA/UK MHRA/ FDA approved products every year. However, a lot of the new products they commercialized is through licensing agreement/ collaboration but not through their own R&D department. I'm assuming they are good with strategy development but not the best in terms of R&D from the ground up. Will talk more about that in the cons section.

Cons

1) Pipeline: unsure whether Seqirus wants to be Best In Class or First In Class or just in class? Their vaccines roll-out are quiet slow. For sure, their cell culture manufacturing and differentiated vaccines are unique selling points that provide a cash cow to the company. But new technologies get commercialized at a turtle pace here. Which leads to point number 2. 2) People: some leaders can be micro-managing and instill anxiety. I'm wondering if the people, which are supposedly the assets of the company, are to blame for their slow development pipeline. Of course, there are more factors to that including the company's conservativeness to provide more funding to research. But in this economic climate, it's fair. 3) Strategy: is directly influenced by the current Inflation Reduction Act and company's finances. Some research teams are more favored bc of that; which is sad sometimes.
