Pros
Lots of opportunities to cross-train, supervise, move up. Some travel opportunities. Sometimes bonuses were awarded after project completion. Lots of senior employees, lots of experience when you have a problem.
Cons
Started hiring a lot of young idiots. Hiring wage went up so that new employees were making more $$ in their 90 day probation than employees who had been there 10-15 years. Older employees, close to retirement didn't care about their job, did the minimum to get by. Working with a depressed socioeconomic group.
