Pros

Discounts on outdoor gear. Meeting others who enjoy your passion.

Cons

Schedules: part time employees are required to have 30 hrs/week of availability. Actual scheduled hours range from 4 to 30 depending on the week. This makes it difficult to balance work/school life and impossible to get an additional job to make ends meet. Communication: Outfitters are continually left out of the loop. There is not a formal line of communication between store management and outfitters. Announcements are made at the beginning of the day, if you work a later shift, tough luck. For someone who works later in the day like myself, letters from corporate through the postal service are more frequent and informative. Outfitter-outfitter word of mouth is the primary means of communication, which is not always reliable or accurate. CLUB Card (Cabela's credit card): Funny thing is CLUB card is one thing that is continually communicated from management. It has been communicated that the sale of CLUB cards supercede all else including the company's defined core values. An outfitter who has a high number of CC sales is valued more than one who has integrity. If you are not comfortable coercing people into a card, this might not be the place for you.
