Pros
Made a ton of friends and learned lots about the outdoors. Employees also got great deals on hunting gear. Cabelas is very accommodating for students to work part time during high school / university, which is great and the reason I worked there for 3 years. As well, they were very open to career advancement, and had online training for product knowledge available to staff. Cabelas also had many team building activities that staff were open to joining, and lots of opportunities to volunteer with community events, as Cabelas sponsored a lot. Overall it was a fun place to work and I really enjoyed my time there.
Cons
Typical retail things like "black out dates" for booking time off for Christmas was annoying, same with mandatory boxing day shifts. As well, management was hit or miss, since typically a lot of management did not have any management training and were simply promoted from outfitter.
