Pros

Generally self-directed and Assistant Structure Reps (my position) are out in the field regularly. Great benefits and great pay.

Cons

Several new hires were told during the hiring process that the entire rotation program could be entirely completed at our local DO. After working for a month, I found out that this is not the case. The design portion of the rotation program requires employees to move to Sacramento, and the supplemental portion can be anywhere in the state (however most options are also based in Sacramento). A couple of the new hires, myself included, have special circumstances preventing us from moving away from where we are now. Had Structures Construction been honest, I would not have applied and wasted my and the company's time and resources. They also lied to new hires about how fast you could be come an RE. They told us one year in construction, then the rotation program, then when you come back and get your PE you will be a "full blown engineer". This is not true, you will be a structure rep, rather than an assistant (and if your office is short-handed, you could become a structure reps much sooner). It will take much longer to become an RE, which is fine. The issue is that they did not clarify or be honest after being directly asked about the promotion ladder.

Pros

Stable, chances for advancement (dependent on location), more time off the longer you stick around

Cons

Heavy red tape, Analysts may be tasked with supporting way too many needy employees from their own and other units, low morale as a result.
