Pros

They do have great benefits and loan percentage reduction on loans, if you choose to take advantage of that.

Cons

Management is horrible, nepotism is 100% real at all branches. Worked past 6 pm, had to volunteer on my weekends-there was no way out of it, 90% of my time went to Canvas, as my only real day off was Sunday. Management micromanages team and there is no feel of culture. Pay is below average for all the work done. I couldn’t move up in the company because I need a managers approval, which they always denied. Management claims they want to “help people” when I have spoken to manager directly about how a certain loan is putting members in bad financial picture. Management only cares about hitting loan production goals.

Thank you for your feedback, we are happy to hear you appreciate the benefits we offer our employees. We regularly seek feedback from our employees, which allows us to offer richer and more impactful benefits for our Canvas family. We’re sorry to hear you didn’t like the culture, however we are honored to have been voted a Great Place To Work by our Canvas family for the fourth year in a row, which we believe speaks to the positive culture at Canvas. We are always striving to get better, but appreciate that the majority of our Canvas family feel this is a Great Place to Work. As a credit union, we serve our communities and members, which does require being available when our members need us, which is why our branches operate Monday-Saturday, with shortened hours on Saturday. We feel it’s important to give back to the communities we serve, which is why each Canvas employee is given 12 paid volunteer hours each year. We believe we have a special work environment at Canvas, and we welcome employee’s family members to work here in most cases. However, we do ensure there aren’t any direct reporting conflicts of interest throughout the organization. We regularly review our products and services to ensure we are offering our members the best options for their personal situations. We wish you the best in your next career endeavor.

Pros

The compensation is the only genuinely positive aspect of this position.

Cons

Nonexistent Training: You are set up to fail from the start with a complete lack of proper training and ongoing leadership support. Management Dodges Work: Managers actively avoid doing their jobs. They will outright refuse to take escalation calls, leaving frontline staff to fend for themselves. Unexplained Discipline: Leadership hands out write-ups with absolutely zero explanation or constructive feedback, creating an environment of anxiety and confusion. Toxic Culture: Internal teams openly disrespect one another, creating a completely dysfunctional and frustrating day-to-day dynamic. Customer Frustration: Due to complete lack of hard turn times here members will basically be spam calling you as processing drops the ball constantly, and underwriting can’t make a sound decision to save their lives.
