Pros

Efficient hiring and onboarding Good compensation for Scotland Good referral bonus if you can get someone else through the door Some good people including that appear to want to actually fix things

Cons

Management seem to think if they proclaim it enough it will make it true Hierarchical - Being "allowed" to talk to people above your rank does not make it a flat structure Professional Development – “self-driven career progression” is available in practically any white-collar organisation. Knowledge base - after you ask enough people, you might get access to a mystery teams folder –there may be some poor quality decks/ excels created for promotion points and forgotten Live training is often hosted by people, collecting promotion points by showing up Performance and promotion process – worked for me because I gamed it – but it's broken and detrimental to - long term thinking needed to fix operational problems - true meritocracy, I work with some stellar people who are wasted and stagnating - any meaningful dialogue across ranks and the foundation of Capco’s top- down structure So many people leave that attrition has got to part of the plan, they say its comparable to market but never provide any numbers To pre-empt the cut and paste Capco response here “speak to your coach/PM” – has never done what I do and has no idea what my job is, one of which I've spoken to twice “speak to HR” ;who, internally answer approximately 30% of the time, because they’re overwhelmed My rating and compensation are dictated by a closed-door process with my manager/coach and their peers so I'm not really going to be honest with them. In other organisations, even with no 360, there's a team or peers so you at least have allies of a sort Just hope your Coach /PM are credible, articulate, have capacity to prepare and in are the right mood for the 2 minutes they get to make a case for you “Sorry you feel that way but actually our performance management framework is fantastic” – or similar That response speaks for itself – ironic given their own material states “feedback is a gift” -only if its top down otherwise its ingratitude for everything we do and give you

Capco Response

We are disappointed to read your feedback. We pride ourselves on offering robust Learning & Development opportunities for employees across all levels, and we’re passionate about the development of our teams. The feedback from colleagues on the content and delivery of L&D programs is consistently very high. In addition, we take performance management and career progression very seriously, and in the last year, we have awarded more than 900 promotions, more than any previous year. In addition, unlike some of our competitors, Capco reviews promotions two times each year, and employees are promoted based on merit and performance rather than time served in a specific role. Our performance management process considers the full range of an individual’s performance at work and the role they play in our business, culture, and community. We are also continually reviewing the process and will be launching our enhanced process for FY23 soon. In the meantime, please reach out to your HR Business Partner or leadership team member to discuss your feedback in detail.

Pros

Varied client work — Different clients and project types, which keeps things interesting. Real project mobility — You can move between projects when you advocate for yourself (within reason). Approachable leadership — Senior leaders are open to conversations if you reach out. Good development resources — Plenty of training and growth opportunities if you take advantage of them. Strong teams — Colleagues are smart, capable, and great to work with. Entrepreneurial environment — New ideas are encouraged, and there’s room to take initiative.

Cons

Long hours vary by project — Like most any professional job, some engagements require extended hours for prolonged periods, but work–life balance really depends on the client and team. Additional internal responsibilities — Depending on level, there can be a significant amount of firm‑support work outside of client delivery. Domain alignment not guaranteed — You may not always be staffed on projects that match your domain expertise. Coaching alignment constraints — Coaching relationships are tied to domain, which limits flexibility in choosing formal mentors. Long engagements (sometimes) — Some projects run for long durations or through multiple extensions. It can provides stability but may reduce variety in client and project experience depending on what you’re looking for.
