Pros

Overall, I’m satisfied with my decision to join the firm. I’ve met some extraordinarily talented people here at Capco. Management truly prioritizes work life balance and I rarely if ever feel overburdened with work. I have the support I need to develop my career in terms of funded training and real time coaching. The new office in the Empire State Building is also incredible!

Cons

Not every project is created equally. Unfortunately it is true that some are grunt work focused and not actually consulting. Some clients can be difficult but that comes with the territory of consulting in general. Some recent management decisions regarding return to office mandates have some top performing employees applying to other companies. It doesn’t make sense for every client and account, so it begs the following question: are you just trying to make people quit? 401K match and bonus are also low compared to industry standards in my opinion.

Capco Response

Thank you for your feedback and we are delighted to hear that you are pleased you made the decision to join Capco. It’s also great to hear that you are enjoying the career development opportunities, working with your colleagues, and of course, our fantastic new office in New York. Our recent return to office communication is about driving greater collaboration, connectivity and in person learning. It’s also about giving employees the opportunity to build their Capco network and socialise with colleagues while enjoying our great workspaces. Many of our clients and competitors have already returned to office working, and many Capco colleagues are already working on client site on a regular basis. Based on this, a more formal return to office working is the natural next step for Capco, while still allowing for a hybrid working model to ensure we strike the right balance for our people.

Cons

No major complaints - but every role has some client-driven variability which comes with consulting

Pros

Varied client work — Different clients and project types, which keeps things interesting. Real project mobility — You can move between projects when you advocate for yourself (within reason). Approachable leadership — Senior leaders are open to conversations if you reach out. Good development resources — Plenty of training and growth opportunities if you take advantage of them. Strong teams — Colleagues are smart, capable, and great to work with. Entrepreneurial environment — New ideas are encouraged, and there’s room to take initiative.

Cons

Long hours vary by project — Like most any professional job, some engagements require extended hours for prolonged periods, but work–life balance really depends on the client and team. Additional internal responsibilities — Depending on level, there can be a significant amount of firm‑support work outside of client delivery. Domain alignment not guaranteed — You may not always be staffed on projects that match your domain expertise. Coaching alignment constraints — Coaching relationships are tied to domain, which limits flexibility in choosing formal mentors. Long engagements (sometimes) — Some projects run for long durations or through multiple extensions. It can provides stability but may reduce variety in client and project experience depending on what you’re looking for.
