Good career launch as a consultant but no real career plan - Senior Consultant Capgemini Engineering Employee Review

Pros

You have to learn a lot yourself because you can't expect real support or training. But if you reach the first anniversary, you will notice that you've got many important skills (autonomy, customer focus, reliability..). There's also plenty of room for additional experience internally (competence groups, publication, internal projects) but unpaid. This is an excellent career launch for business development managers (business school).

Cons

There's a huge gap between consultant's expectations and manager's agenda and there's not much attention for the consultants. Apart from some exceptions, the only career plan for a consultant is to become a manager, but this is a completely different story.

Pros

Offers the most benefits among leading IT consultants in the same league. Great opportunities for knowledge growth.

Cons

Increments are generally between 4% and 10%. Promotions, on the other hand, do not usually come with a significant increase.
