Pros

Capital Group is a great place to work. There are a ton of benefits, lots of flexibility, everyone is genuinely nice. The culture is focused on family and no one blinks an eye when you have to leave for a kid's event.

Cons

The career progression at CG is minimal at best. I was used to working at a company that had a clear career path. I was told before coming here that the progress is more linear but I had no idea I would have to move heaven and earth to even be considered for promotions. More recently, CG has been extremely focused on cost cutting. Although they say people are their only resource and expense, I see that as a way for them to say "why would we promote you and pay you more to do the same work." Also in terms of salary, CG has an amazing bonus structure and one of the only companies I know that still provide pension. That being said, the base salary is pretty low and increases each year are about 1-3%.

Capital Group Response

Thanks for your candid thoughts. We're taking your feedback to heart and will be sharing it with others across CG. You hit on several important points, one of which is career progression. At Capital, we view career development as a mix of upward promotion, lateral job moves to develop breadth of knowledge and rotations to gain additional skills. Our amazing benefits, top-quartile salary/bonus structure, and long tenured associates result in less turnover than many other firms - a fact that we view as positive affirmation that Capital Group is a great place to work. And as you've highlighted, this often means that upward promotions are not the only way we look to develop our associates. If you have any other feedback you'd like to share, don't hesitate to reach out to me at MCHT@capgroup.com

Pros

The bonuses and CSRP of 15% as well as many benefits are unmatched. I enjoy many of my colleagues and have made life long friends.

Cons

It was a great place to work and many will continue to feel that way until they are affected like those of us in the Norfolk Virginia office. There is no loyalty from the company and people are replaced either by a “vision“ of technology that doesn’t yet even exist within the organization or by cheap labor “offshore“. I thought I would retire from here and now I find myself out of a job after over 20 years before the end of 2027.
