Pros

I had the opportunity to work for some well-known financial firms, and initially, I believed there was something special about the company. However, over time, it became clear that success was more about office politics than actual merit. Unfortunately, toxic behavior and underperformance were often overlooked and protected. In 2019, the company was involved in a major scandal, which you can find details about in the UK Panorama program, particularly regarding the investigation into a leading PM. Despite the seriousness of the situation, there were no significant consequences for the company allowing such dangerous behaviour. In my experience, the only "pros" at Capital are if you never speak up, Never challenge the wrongdoing, and stay in the background—then you can remain there indefinitely, even without contributing much.

Cons

The management is poor, and while there are some talented individuals, the overall quality is mediocre. Portfolio managers are decent sometimes very good, but this is typical of many other asset management firms.

Pros

The bonuses and CSRP of 15% as well as many benefits are unmatched. I enjoy many of my colleagues and have made life long friends.

Cons

It was a great place to work and many will continue to feel that way until they are affected like those of us in the Norfolk Virginia office. There is no loyalty from the company and people are replaced either by a “vision“ of technology that doesn’t yet even exist within the organization or by cheap labor “offshore“. I thought I would retire from here and now I find myself out of a job after over 20 years before the end of 2027.
