Pros

It was a job and paid the bills for a short time. It was hard to find something in Madison. There were not a lot of positives unfortunately.

Cons

Focused on numbers. Everything about billing, billing, billing. If you had one patient that was billed less than 4 units you would get in trouble. I know they need to pay the bills but this felt like padding the pockets. Some questionable billing practices with aides doing a lot of the work. I don't think you can bill for this but they do it all the time. No documentation time so if nobody cancels things can get overwhelming.

Pros

This role was such a positive experience for me. I got the unique perspective of both the behind-the-scenes as a care coordinator and more of the “hands-on” work as a PT tech and working with patients. This really helped me understand the full picture of that physical therapy looks like in this type of setting and I feel like it has prepared me well for PT school myself. Not only did I get to learn immensely about the profession but I felt very supported in my own professional journey as well. Julie has been an incredible mentor both for this role and in helping me apply and get accepted to PT school. This is a great experience for anyone taking a gap year and I highly recommend it!
