Over saturated market. You'll know how to make keys and program remotes, but nothing technical. In my area, 84043, there are 3 million residents statewide. The amount of dealerships per resident is oversaturated of those in the market to buy a vehicle with a complete set of keys. Unless I was a consumer willing to buy 2 or more cars per month from each dealership, the dealer will probably stress more about turning profit and staying in business than generating repeat business simply by offering a complete set of keys. Even if they did, it wouldn't be often enough. That leaves you with a key here and there, for each dealership and every person in your route. To start, plant a lot of seeds and do as many favors until you crack and realize, you can't make a living on favors, hopes and wishes. Your pay is based on how much you can produce. If your client only needs 2 keys per stop each week, with the unlikely expectation of complete lot coverage, hope to gain 8 or more dealerships to cover everyday.. A challenge all in itself. Especially when a dealer needs you to be a locksmith, when you're anything but. There's more to it than copying keys and programming remotes, but we get that the price we offer and what we do is based on volume. Sadly, savings is not the only driving point to what sells.
Not the latest and best of programming equipment. You're limited as to what you can do.
