Pros

I enjoyed the people I worked with

Cons

I worked there for 13 years. Got consistently high reviews up until the last few years. I had undiagnosed sleep apnea and when I really was struggling they began saying in my reviews that the ONE negative thing is that I was tired all the time. They hired a new manager who didn’t like me and found every opportunity to write me up and my direct supervisor did nothing to defend me. They were looking for ways to get rid of me. There was a gated secure area where the delivery drivers would pick up. One day a driver left and I ensured the gate was closed and secured and lowered the rolling door but I did not lock it by moving the bar over. That’s the reason they gave for firing me. Even though I was not the only employee who had done that and the other dock doors in the unsecured areas were left open constantly. Which was a much greater security risk. It was a pick, pack and ship job so it is what you’d expect. They do inventory twice a year which usually was at least a 12 hour day, usually more and then you were required to come in on Saturday to complete the work you couldn’t do during inventory, it was non negotiable. The best thing I ever did was get fired from that place. The pay wasn’t great and because of the high turnover, you had to book your PTO for the next year at the end of the previous year and you had to compete with the other caregivers for holidays.

Pros

Interesting work: nobody hears this job title without a little curiosity Independent: once you're trained you're mostly given tasks and allowed to work whatever way best suits your needs Unique: you won't find another job that does exactly this in the area Benefits: pretty standard, but kick in on day 1 Growing field: by all appearances, this is a growing field in pharmacy, so job stability isn't an issue Management: Leadership at this location strives to make this a good place to work

Cons

The hours: most technicians will work from 2:30-10 AM. The pay: rate is decent, a little less than hospital rates, a little more than retail, but in general you will be capped at 35 hours a week. Independence: while there is a lot to say about the benefits of working on your tasks alone, there is also little in the way of any real supervision. This means that all interpersonal issues devolve into a one employee's word against another, leaving management reluctant to act. Management: Leadership at this location does its best to make this a good environment to work, but they do it at the expense of holding employees accountable.
